The Acoustic Wood Baffles are vertically hung panels available in custom sizes and spacing. Natural wood veneer is laminated to Fire-Rated MDF. Only after lamination is the face microperforated with 0.5mm (1/50”) perforations and the rear perforated with 9mm (3/8”) for acoustical performance. This eliminates the risk of delamination or hole clogging common to panels that are laminated after perforation. The hollow core of the baffle is filled with NAUF Medium Density Fiberglass to improve acoustic performance. Acoustic Wood Baffles come standard with factory-mounted hardware for easy suspension with hanger wire. They can also be mounted directly to a strut channel.
Width: The standard width of a baffle is 50mm (2”) but custom sizes are common. Baffles under 40mm (1.5”) wide will have reduced acoustical performance.
Height: Baffles came in standard size between 75mm (3”) and 305mm (12”). Other heights are also available.
Length: The maximum length of a single baffle is 3m (10’). Individual baffles can be joined to create baffles longer than 3m.
The Acoustic Wood Baffles can be customized in a variety of wood veneers. MCM Acoustical lays-up its own veneer random matched.
Baffles can be finished in standard clear lacquer or can be custom stained to match a control sample. The Acoustic Wood Baffles can also be painted.
The Acoustic Wood Baffles are Class A Fire-Rated interior wood finish products as per ASTM E84 and CAN/ULC S102, and are tested in an accredited NVLAP test facility as a finished composite product using Class A individual components.
The microperforated face of the Acoustic Baffle has an NRC of up to 1.05 NRC, while overall acoustical performance will depend on the size of the baffles and the spacing between them.
Like any other architectural natural wood product, the Acoustic Wood Baffles are to be acclimatized inside a controlled interior environment for at least 72 hours before installation. During storage, prior to installation, during installation, and after installation the relative humidity level of 35%-55% and a temperature range of 20°-27°C (68°-81°F) must be maintained.
