Toronto Metropolitan University’s new School of Medicine in Brampton, Ontario has transformed a former civic centre into a contemporary medical education facility. MCM Acoustical’s custom wood grille panels with batten and perforated panels soften the original concrete and steel Brutalist architecture and create a warm, welcoming lobby. The custom geometry of the natural wood grilles was designed to align with Indigenous design principles, establishing both the primary entry feature, and a visual focal point for the school and the broader community. The perforated panels further showcase MCM Acoustical’s technical capability, using varying hole sizes to create imagery through precision perforation.
